The Greeter Ministry started in 2009 and continues to grow!  We are part of the Hospitality Ministry and our purpose is to greet our visitors and members each Sunday morning before they enter the Sanctuary.  As greeters, we wear cheerful smiles and warm hearts, and our goal is to make everyone feel welcome!  Our mission statement is:  Be kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love; distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality

(Romans 12:10, 13).

An usher is a spiritual ambassador and serves as a “first representative” of Jesus Christ for a worship service.

The Ushers are the first official representative of St Stephen Missionary Baptist Church that anybody sees when they arrive. They play an important role in making the people feel welcome to the church service. An Usher meets the people with a pleasant smile, a warm welcome, and directs them to comfortable seats. They introduce visitors to the church by providing them a visitor packet. The church usher helps the Pastor to make the service a success by putting the congregation in the right frame of mind to receive the message. They also ensure that perfect order is kept in and around the church at all times during the services.

Ushers are forerunners, they prepare the church for guests by being the first to arrive at the church, they receive the order of the day from the Pastor or designated official, they see that the church is in proper condition to receive members and guests. Church Ushers are missionaries for the church for they perpetuate the spirit throughout the congregation.
